Plumbing answering service and AI receptionist
Water on the floor does not wait for a callback. The plumber who answers first gets the job, and the agent answers on the first ring.
Calls the agent handles for you
Burst pipes and active leaks
Asks if water is still running and if the caller knows where the main shut-off is, gives the safety steps you approve, then sends the call to you.
Clogs and backups
Separates a slow sink from a sewer backup into the basement, and books or escalates each one by your rules.
No hot water
Collects the water heater type, age and symptoms before your plumber picks up the job.
Booked work
Fixture installs, renovations and inspections, booked into the slots you allow.
Price questions
Answers with the price ranges you approve, or says the plumber will confirm on site.
Follow-ups
Takes messages from existing customers about past jobs and invoices.
What a call sounds like
An example of how the agent handles a typical call, and the text you get right after it.
- AgentThanks for calling Harbour Plumbing. What is going on?
- CallerWater is coming up through the floor drain in our basement.
- AgentOkay. Is it still rising, and is it clear water or sewage?
- CallerIt smells bad and it's still coming up.
- AgentThat sounds like a sewer backup. Please stop running water upstairs. I'm putting you through to the plumber on call now.
Why plumbers lose calls
You are under a sink or in a crawl space when the phone rings, and you cannot answer with wet hands. After hours the calls go to voicemail, and an emergency caller rarely waits. They call the next plumber on the search results.
The agent answers while you work, takes the address and details and either books the job or puts the emergency through to your cell.
We set it up at your business and stay until it works
You do not configure anything. We do the setup work with you and keep adjusting until you are happy with how it handles calls.
We come to you
In Toronto and the GTA we visit your office, shop or yard. Elsewhere in Canada we do the same session over a video call. We learn your services, prices, service area, hours and how you like jobs booked.
We write the call script
What to say, which questions to ask, what counts as an emergency, who gets the transfer and what the agent must never promise. You read it and approve it.
We test it together
You and your team call the agent and try to trip it up. We fix every answer you do not like before a single customer hears it.
You go live with your number
You keep your phone number. Calls you do not answer, or all calls after hours, forward to the agent.
We tune it for the first weeks
We review real calls, tighten answers and add the questions customers actually ask, until the results are where you want them.
Questions plumbers ask about AI receptionists
Short answers to what owners in your line of work usually want to know.
Can an AI receptionist take emergency plumbing calls at night?
Yes. It answers on the first ring, asks if water is still running and where, gives only the safety steps you approve, and transfers burst pipes and sewer backups to the plumber on call.
What does the AI ask a caller with a leak or clog?
The address, what is leaking or blocked, whether water is still coming, whether it is clean water or sewage, and how to reach them. You choose the questions during setup.
Can it book drain cleaning and water heater jobs?
Yes. Routine jobs go into the time slots you allow in your online calendar. If you do not use one, the agent takes the request and texts it to you to confirm.
Will it give callers advice on stopping a leak?
Only the steps you approve, word for word, such as where to find the main shut-off. It never improvises repair advice.
How much does an answering service for plumbers cost?
A human answering service usually bills per minute or per call, so a busy month costs more. Our AI receptionist is from $150 a month plus one-time setup from $299, in CAD, and setup is free for our first 10 businesses. The monthly price depends on how many calls the agent takes. See pricing.
Is an answering service worth it for plumbers?
Compare the monthly price with what one booked plumbing job is worth to you. If you miss several calls a week, catching one or two of them usually covers the cost. If you almost never miss a call, you probably do not need one. The 1-minute quiz checks this for your business.
AI receptionist or live answering service: which is better for plumbers?
A classic answering service usually takes a message and you call back. The AI receptionist answers every call at once, follows the script you approved, books into your calendar and sends urgent calls to your phone by your rules. A human service can still suit you better if most calls need judgement a script cannot cover, or callers mostly speak a language other than English. Full comparison.
What should plumbers look for in an answering service?
Four things: it answers every call at once, including nights and weekends; it books into your calendar instead of only taking a message; it sends emergencies to your phone by your rules; and you know how the price changes in a busy month. Ask for a test call before you sign. More in how to choose.
More questions
What happens with an emergency call?
You set the rules with us, for example no heat in winter, water coming through the ceiling or a death at home. Those calls go straight to your cell or the on-call person, and you still get the written summary.
Do I need a new phone number?
No. You keep your number. We forward the calls you choose to the agent: missed calls, after-hours calls or all calls.
Will callers know they are talking to an AI?
The voice is natural and most callers simply get their problem solved. We still recommend the agent says it is an automated assistant if asked, and it can hand the call to a person whenever the caller wants one.
